Fees & Investment

Let’s make the financial side of therapy feel as straightforward as possible.

Therapy Session Fees

Our session fees reflect the advanced training, specialized expertise, and individualized care our team brings to each client. By maintaining smaller caseloads, we're able to give each person the time, attention, and availability they deserve.

Standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes long.

Insurance Plans We Accept

We accept the following insurance plans:

  • Anthem

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)

  • Cigna

  • UnitedHealthcare

  • Aetna

  • Gold Coast Medi-Cal

Your specific benefits, copays, deductibles, and coverage will depend on your insurance plan. We encourage you to verify your benefits before your first appointment.

A few things to know about using insurance:

Insurance can help make therapy more accessible, but there are certain requirements that can influence your care. We want you to have the information you need to choose the payment option that makes the most sense for you.

  • A qualifying diagnosis is required. Insurance companies generally require a billable mental health diagnosis to cover therapy. Even if you're struggling and would benefit from support, your insurance may not cover sessions without a qualifying diagnosis.

  • Your insurance company may request records. Insurers may request treatment plans or clinical notes to confirm that therapy is medically necessary. This means some details about your care may be shared with your insurance provider.

  • Coverage may affect your treatment options. Depending on your plan, there may be requirements or limitations related to the frequency, duration, or type of therapy covered.

Private-Pay Therapy

We believe therapy should be shaped around your unique experiences, challenges, and goals—not insurance requirements.

When you choose private-pay therapy, you and your therapist have more freedom to determine what your care looks like without having to meet insurance requirements for medical necessity or covered treatment.

Private-pay therapy can offer:

  • Greater flexibility: You and your therapist can determine how often you meet and which approaches best support your needs.

  • More personalized treatment: Your care can focus on what matters to you, even when your concerns don't meet the requirements for an insurance-covered diagnosis.

  • Increased privacy: Your diagnosis, treatment plans, and session documentation don't need to be submitted to an insurance company for payment.

  • Continuity of care: You can continue working together as long as it's clinically appropriate and helpful, without insurance coverage determining the length of treatment.

  • More freedom to choose your therapist: You can prioritize the clinician's expertise, experience, and approach rather than limiting your search to in-network providers.

Using Out-of-Network Benefits

If we're not in-network with your insurance plan, you may still have benefits that help cover part of your therapy costs. At Conejo Valley Family Counseling, we'll submit your out-of-network claims directly to your insurance company.

You'll pay us directly for each session, and we'll handle submitting the claim on your behalf. There's no need for you to request a superbill and submit it yourself. Your insurance company will determine your eligibility for reimbursement and the amount covered, if any.

We recommend checking with your insurance provider to understand your out-of-network benefits, deductible, and potential reimbursement before beginning therapy.
